Description

It is night time and you and your criminal investigation colleagues have been summoned to the Walton Mansion after receiving an urgent call. Once there, the housekeeper announces the reason for the unexpected meeting: Mr. Walton has been found dead in his study!

AWKWARD GUESTS is an innovative card game of mystery and investigation. Mr. Walton’s murder can be recreated in so many different ways that YOU WON'T EVER PLAY TWO SIMILAR GAMES!

Personal Thoughts

Awkward Guests took us by surprise, and has become one of our favorite "Mystery Monday" games, almost a filler when we need a break from more robust mysteries. For a game with a simple Clue-like premise—using cards to narrow a list of potential suspects, locations, and murder weapons—and slightly cumbersome setup and cleanup processes—gathering a subset of all cards for the game and putting them back into their respective decks at the end—the game is remarkably fun to play. We've played this more than a dozen times and have yet to get tired of it, which is high praise for a board game in our house.
